Dr. Casanova-Romero, who joined Palm Beach
Diabetes and Endocrine Specialists in 2012, received his medical
degree with honors (Summa Cum Laude) and Doctor of Medical Science (D.M.Sc),
from the University of Zulia, School of Medicine in Venezuela. He
subsequently joined the faculty of his Alma Mater and in 1998, the
Diabetes Prevention Program (D.P.P.) Research Group at Diabetes
Research Institute-University of Miami. He completed his
postgraduate training in Internal Medicine & Endocrinology and
graduate studies in Public Health (M.P.H.) with Award of Academic
Merit at the University of Miami.
A consulting private endocrinologist since 2006, Dr. Casanova-Romero's
extensive research papers on diabetes prevention, metabolic syndrome
and other endocrine disorders have been widely published. He
continues to collaborate in research studies in U.S and
Latin-America. Dr. Casanova-Romero is Board Certified in Internal Medicine,
as well as in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. He is a Fellow
of the American College of Endocrinology (F.A.C.E.).
Dr. Casanova-Romero specializes in the treatment of metabolic syndrome,
thyroid disease including cancer, parathyroid disease, diabetes,
pre-diabetes, lipid disorders, and other endocrine disorders. He is
certified to perform ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration biopsy
of the thyroid.
He is a current member of the American Diabetes Association, the
American College of Physicians, the American Thyroid Association,
National Lipid Association, The Endocrine Society and the American
Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.
